Nick came to collect me from the hospital on the final morning to bring me home for good (we hoped!). We probably both had mixed feelings of relief and happiness but also tinged with worry and concern for the challenges we still faced. Yet this had to be a happy day and I certainly was a healthier person than when I had been admitted ten weeks earlier. Back to being a family again with no more trips to hospital! One suggestion from my CPN was to keep a diary about what I did from now on and how I had felt. Not only did I do Dominic’s, I now had to write my own in a notebook. It had emergency numbers of the relevant nurses, social workers and family support people on the inside cover who I could contact if need be. Initially my nurse would visit every few days and gradually lengthen the time between his visits. He would look at my diary and comment upon any issues which arose.
