Elaine Hanzak has been speaking at conferences since 1999, when she spontaneously shared her experience of postnatal illness at a service for World Mental Health Day.
A week later she was invited to speak to health professionals at a local hospital conference, following this she was invited to present at a national conference for 600 nurses in London.
These three talks motivated her to write her story (as it was at that stage) to offer hope to others affected by poor mental health.
Following the publication of her book ‘Eyes without Sparkle – a journey through postnatal illness’ (Radcliffe, 2005), Elaine resigned her teaching career to take up her new one as a professional speaker.
Her story has taken her around the world and as the years have passed, her new life’s events have been added to the picture, especially the impact that the death of her partner and fellow speaker Clive Gott, had upon her.
Elaine’s clients have included the NHS, Customer Service Training Network, Forward Ladies, Open University, Soroptimists, Marce Society and several universities.
‘I would urge anyone who is given a chance to hear her speak to take up the offer, she is such a natural speaker, speaking from the heart and engaging the whole audience.’ A Mum
